Gorge Wildlife Park with Stella

Stella and her mum were so nice to take me to the Gorge Wildlife Park, which is located in the north-west hills in Adelaide. It's such a lovely place, a lot smaller than Cleland Wildlife Park which is the most visited, but I saw a lot of animals and GOT TO HOLD A KOALA FOR THE FIRST TIME.
It's such a cute little thing, just resting against your while eating the its leaves.

There were a lot of kangaroos as well, and even more wallabies, which are the smaller kangaroo-looking animals. Both kinds are incredibly cute, and I got to feed them what seemed like a billion crackers.

It was one of those + 43 degrees days, so even walking around the small park was absolutely breathtaking - for both reasons ;-)
I had a lovely time, and I might go there again some time, who knows.

Valentine's Day - Fringe

In Adelaide there's a massive festival going on in February called The Fringe. Basically it's a bunch of rides and little stands all gathered in a park which had been decorated beautifully, and then for about 2-3 weeks I think, people come and go and watch performers and artists and dancers - even comedians.
There's a lot going on, I'm not even sure what it's all about to be honest.
Everybody is looking forward to it though.

So tonight, valentines day, was the opening parade. Throughout the city there was loud music and a parade if different performers dancing and holding up signs and people playing with fire,
It was quite cool, unfortunately there was a bunch of people so I couldn't quite get a good look.

Afterwards we went to The Garden of Unearthly Delights, which is the park where the Fringe is being held.
Turns out the opening parade turned into a street party, and wasn't actually gonna end at the park. So we missed out on the street party and fireworks, which was pretty much the only reason I showed up.
But oh well, I'll see some fireworks another time.

The park looks amazing, and there's so many stands already :-)

Pink party

My friend Amber invited me to her 16th birthday, which had a pink theme. My wardrobe consists of 99% black, white or grey clothes, so that was really a challenge.
The week before I had been to a 80's themed party, where I had bought a pink top, so luckily I managed to match it with a pair of white shorts, and some shoes I borrowed from Tasman :-)

It was such a cute party, everything was pink and they'd put such an effort into every single thing - pink cupcakes, pink macaroons, pink slush-ice in different flavours, pink fairybread and so on.

It was really fancy and so beautifully shown on the dining table. I loved the theme, even tho I had been quite against it when trying to figure out what to wear ;-)

The house worked really well, it was such an open and wonderful house, really beautiful architecture.
The weather was absolutely fantastic, since it was only 28. They changed the day from Saturday to Sunday, because we would have died in the 42 degrees heat we experienced Saturday.

All in all it was a great time, even tho it's not really the girls I hang out with the most. But since then they've talked to me a lot more in school, and I didn't feel awkward at the party, so that's all good!

Me and Molly, I love her so much she's such a nice girl

The food was so cute and delicious!

The most perfect macaroons you can imagine!

Cricket game

About a month ago, I went to the Big Bash 20/20 cricket game. Being a 16 year old teenage girl who's never watched cricket before in her life, I think I understood the game pretty well. There was a lot of things happening at once - not only did we have to switch from watching the field to watching the big TVs showing what's happening on the field, because we sat on the grass and it wasn't quite the best view we had. Nonetheless, it was a lovely night and I had a lot of fun with some of my favourite people.
The reason we went in the first place, was because Stella's birthday was on new years day, but since we didn't really celebrate her then, she wanted to spend a day with the group and celebrate her birthday then.

Just the girls there, not really sure where the boys went. We had brought so many blankets and sleeping bags with us, so everybody were comfortable and could lie back and relax.

Sleeping bags were a perfect idea, so comfy

It was a pretty decent stadium, and it was quite packed with people. Such a good atmosphere!

From left to right: Paddy sitting behind Jack, Olga, Tasman, Caitlin, me, Stella and Taya. Emma came a bit later, and Lewis was the one who took the photo, so he's obviously not in it.

We made a watermelon punch and put it in the empty watermelon - we felt like geniuses for coming up with that innovative idea ;-)

I was supposed to upload this post like a month ago, but I hadn't pulled myself together to do so before now, so sorry for that delay.

80's party

Since I happen to be good friends with quite a few of the year 12 boys, the year 12 girls have started to notice me and I've actually started being pretty good friends with them as well. Good enough to get invited to their parties that is, and this weekend it was themed 80's...
I was lost. What is eighties even. I didn't want to make a fool out of myself and show up in a one piece with pink leg warmers. After debating this until the very last minute, I ended up wearing this fluffy skirt I borrowed from Tasman, who has it for whatever reason, and I bought this pink top hoping it was following the theme well enough.

It was such a warm day so people were so sweaty and not in the mood for dancing, but when songs like 'freak out' and 'I wanna dance with somebody' came on, there wasn't really much of a choice. One of my best friends Lewis spend the entire evening on the dance floor, in his baggy pants, blue velvet blazer and pink tie.
A lot of people followed the theme so well, and it looked hilarious on the photos the following day.

Lewis posted this on facebook the following day. It's Jack, Seb, Josh, Arthur and Lewis before the party all dressed up

School start

It's almost the 29th, which means school starts for all the public school students - and yes that's me.
I've been enjoying this holiday so much and the thought of going back to school is so repelling. But yesterday all the year 11s had to get their books, and being back at the school surrounded by my friends and classmates felt really good, even tho it was just for 10 minutes.
I'm actually looking forward to starting again, even tho I might be the only one.

I got my schedule yesterday as well, and my classes for next year look pretty decent - apart from having to do drama after school, which means staying at school until around half past 4...
Nonetheless it'll probably be ok, and if not I'll let the office know and they'll hopefully swop me around. Drama would be fun though.

I'm also doing maths, English communications (might swop to literature to challenge myself a bit more), art design and psychology.

This term will be great :-)

Ice skating

Went ice skating with the family the other day, but since Paul has started work again he couldn't make it. It was brad's first time skating, and considering that, he managed to learn pretty fast.
Sophie hasn't been ice skating for 3 years, and wasn't as good as she had expected, so I taught her and held her hand. At the end she was really good and didn't need any help at all☺

Brad didn't want help and especially not in the form of me holding his hand. As he said, it is too "embarrassing" since we're not the same gender. Ali laughed so much at that, and tried to convince him that people won't think we're together, since there's a good 8 years age difference. He wouldn't even hold Sophie's hand๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I had a blast, and it was wonderful to cool down for a few hours, knowing it was 43 degrees outside ;-)
